KUCHING: The St Joseph’s Private Primary School Choir earned a Gold C rating with 80.79 points at the Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod (MCE) – International Choral Festival (ICF).

The Kuching-based young choristers achieved the result in the Young Children (Open) Category, competing among 80 participating children’s choirs at the international event on Aug 23.

Representing Malaysia, the choir delivered its performance with confidence, musicality and enthusiasm, earning recognition for its efforts on the competition stage.

The achievement marks a proud moment for the young singers, as well as their teachers, conductors, parents and supporters who have continued to nurture their passion for choral music.

The choir was also recognised during the awards presentation, where its representatives and participating choristers gathered on stage to receive the award and celebrate the accomplishment.

The 80.79-point Gold C result reflects the dedication, discipline and teamwork demonstrated by the young singers throughout their preparation and performance.

Beyond the competition result, the participation provides the choristers with valuable exposure to competitive choral singing while encouraging them to further develop their musical abilities and confidence.

The achievement also highlights the role of music in bringing young people together, building confidence and fostering a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts.
