KUCHING: Sarawak’s civil servants and community leaders have been lauded for their tireless efforts in serving the state, with the government showing its appreciation through various financial incentives.

Political analyst, Datuk Peter Minos, highlighted the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s commitment to recognising the contributions of all who help develop and maintain Sarawak.

“While putting in all his energy to advance the state, our Premier does not forget the small men and does not take them for granted,” he said.

He noted that the government had approved a two-month bonus for Sarawak civil servants, RM700 for federal civil servants, RM1,000 per month for councillors’ allowances, and improved allowances for ketua masyarakat and ketua kaum (KMKK).

“From Sematan to Lawas, our civil servants work tirelessly, and those in Syarikat SESCO Bhd (SESCO), water management boards, and local councils operate around the clock to serve the public. They deserve recognition,” he said.

Minos also emphasised the role of community leaders, particularly ketua kaum , who handle continuous village issues and complaints.

“They slog on because they love the people and Sarawak,” he added.

Sharing his experience, Minos said that he understands the daily challenges, having overseen Samarahan for over 10 years and now Serian.

“From statutory duties such as waste collection, drain cleaning and road maintenance, to developing tourism and beautifying towns, there is never a dull day, but a lot of hard thinking, planning and sweating it out,” he said.

He concluded that the government’s recognition of civil servants’ and community leaders’ contributions strengthens morale and reflects a leadership that truly values dedication and service.
