KUCHING: A strong team spirit has always been the driving force behind the progress and success of civil servants across Malaysia, says State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
He said that a task or responsibility entrusted to civil servants can only be carried out when all its members cooperate as a team.
He explained that differences in backgrounds should be set aside when carrying out a task, instead using it as a source of strength to pursue success.
“Regardless of our position, where we work, whether we are officers or not, working in rural areas or in cities or even our religious differences, we must hold on to team spirit.
“We cannot carry out our responsibilities as members of the civil service if we do not have team spirit.”
Abu Bakar said this when officiating the Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) All-Malaysia Joint Body Contingent Dinner which was held at a hotel here on Wednesday (Feb 19).
Commenting on the programme, he noted that organising sports events among civil servants is a good platform to unite and further strengthen working relationships.
“Tonight we got to know each other, we exchanged ideas on how we can improve our services as civil servants.
“The team spirit formed through participating in these sports events is very important to maintain and I believe that this cooperation will not just stop here, but will continue in every sector or field the state government ventures into subsequently.”
This edition of Maksak saw Sarawak hosting the badminton event, featuring five events, namely men’s and women’s singles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles and veteran doubles, bringing together more than 200 civil servant participants from all over Malaysia.
