BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (BRUNEI DARUSSALAM): The Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office (STATO) Brunei is expected to commence its operation this year.
According to statement issued yesterday, the objective of establishing STATO Brunei is to further enhance business and tourism collaborations between Brunei and Sarawak.
“It will serve as a one-stop centre for investment and businesses as well as tourism players in Brunei to meet and liaise with Sarawak on a regular basis,” it said.
The signing ceremony for tenancy agreement between Sarawak Trade and Tourism Sdn Bhd and Pavo Point Management for STATO Brunei was held yesterday at Pavo Point, Bandar Seri Begawan.
State Secretary Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki signed on behalf of STATO Brunei Sdn Bhd while Awang Damit Awang Osman signed on behalf of the management of Pavo Point and witnessed by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Transport Malaysia Datuk Hasbi Habibollah; Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail and High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam His Excellency Raja Datuk Reza Raja Zaib Shah.
