KUCHING: The state-level organising committee for the official birthday celebration of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong paid a courtesy call to Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Astana Negeri Sarawak.
The purpose of the visit was to extend a formal invitation to Wan Junaidi to attend and officiate the official birthday celebration, set to take place from June 11 to 14.
In an official statement today, Astana Negeri Sarawak said Limbang Division has been selected as the host location for this year’s celebration to strengthen the spirit of unity and demonstrate appreciation for the people in northern Sarawak.
“This visit also reflects the firm commitment of the state government and related agencies to ensure the event is conducted smoothly and ceremoniously, in the spirit of patriotism and loyalty to the royal institution,” it said.
The delegation was led by Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah, who also serves as chairman of the committee.
Other members present were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Hall, and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi ;Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya; Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development (Food Industry) Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman; and Limbang Division resident Unus Tambi.
Also present were Unit for Other Religions Affairs (UNIFOR) director Datuk Georgina Apphia Ngau; Sarawak Protocol, Ceremony and Event Management Unit director Datuk Hamdan Sharbini; Sarawak Arts Council CEO Dayang Mariana Abang Zaini; Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan; Sarawak Information Department (JAPEN) director Helmi Hamid and JAIS deputy director Al-Fadhil Ustaz Haji Abang Borhanuddin bin Abang Ahmad Masuine.
