KUCHING: Concerned officials have sounded the alarm over a ticket scam involving the 29th Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF).

The Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) said the scam redirects users to counterfeit websites and ticketing pages designed to closely imitate the official RWMF website and the platform of STB authorised ticketing partner, Ticketmelon.

“STB has verified with Ticketmelon that the websites and promotions concerned are fraudulent and are not affiliated with Ticketmelon or the Rainforest World Music Festival in any manner whatsoever.

“Members of the public are strongly advised to exercise caution and purchase tickets only through the official RWMF website at: rwmf.net and authorised ticket resellers,” it said in a statement, Saturday (May 23).

Festivalgoers are urged to avoid clicking on suspicious links shared through unofficial platforms or social media postings and to verify website addresses before making any online transactions.

STB said the matter is being treated seriously and necessary measures have been initiated to report and remove the fraudulent links and websites to protect the public from potential financial losses and misuse of personal information.

The public was also encouraged to share the advisory with family members, friends and networks to prevent others from becoming victims of the scam.

“The safety, trust, and confidence of our festival community remain a priority to STB,” it said.

For verified festival information, announcements and official ticket purchases, the public has been advised to refer only to the official RWMF and STB communication channels, including the official RWMF website at www.rwmf.net and STB’s official website at www.sarawaktourism.com.

The public can also follow RWMF through its Instagram account, @rwmf.official, and Facebook page, RWMF Official Facebook.

Meanwhile, STB’s official social media platforms include @sarawaktravel Instagram, Visit Sarawak Facebook, @sarawaktourismboard Instagram, Sarawak Tourism Board Facebook and Sarawak Travel TikTok.
