Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) has received 12 major national and international awards between November 2025 and May 2026, recognising achievements in tourism marketing, sustainability, events and destination leadership.
Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said among notable recognitions were the Best Destination Marketing Campaign Award 2026 in India and several World Business Outlook Awards presented recently in Singapore for tourism promotion excellence.
“The awards strengthened Sarawak’s reputation as an internationally competitive and sustainable tourism destination,” he said this in his ministerial winding up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today (May19).

He said STB is currently implementing the Elevation, Diversification, Growth, and Empowerment marketing strategy for 2026 until 2030, prioritising innovative promotions and stronger international brand visibility.
“From January until April 2026, the board completed approximately 26 percent of 68 planned marketing programmes, generating tourism industry sales exceeding RM1.61 million across target markets, “he said.
He said major travel fairs attended included Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin, Total Holiday Option Oceania Region, Outbound Travel Mart Mumbai, South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange New Delhi India, Asean Tourism Forum Philippines, and National Association of Travel Agents Singapore Holidays exhibition and MATTA Fair in Sabah and in Kuala Lumpur.
“The board also strengthened digital campaigns through collaborations with Amadeus, Traveloka, Tripadvisor, Tripzilla, Skyscanner, Expedia, Ctrip, and Qunar, recording approximately 60 million online impressions globally, “he said.
He noted that Sarawak Tourism Board additionally collaborated with Sarawak Forestry Corporation on long-term carbon offsetting initiatives during Rainforest World Music Festival, supporting environmentally responsible tourism development and sustainability management.
“Sarawak will host Pacific Asia Travel Association Travel Mart 2026 this August, expected to attract over 1,000 participants from 60 countries discussing tourism challenges and future industry opportunities, “he added.
