SARATOK: Students have been reminded that the Form Six pathway offers a valuable opportunity for SPM leavers, with the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) recognised as equivalent to diploma and matriculation programmes and acknowledged internationally.
Sarawak Education director Omar Mahli said this during a working visit to Kolej Tingkatan Enam Saratok (KTES) aimed at strengthening Form Six education in the state.
In his address, he also highlighted aspirations outlined in the Rancangan Pendidikan Malaysia 2026–2035, which emphasises strengthening post-secondary education including Form Six through curriculum improvements, the enhancement of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS), and boosting student employability.
“The visit is part of our commitment to enhance the quality of Form Six education in line with the national education transformation agenda. These efforts are aimed at producing a more competitive and well-rounded generation of students who are prepared for higher education and the workforce,” he said on Wednesday (Apr 29).
At the same time, the college principal presented KTES’ academic performance which has shown encouraging improvement, particularly in recent STPM results.
The rising School Grade Point Average (GPS) reflects the commitment of both educators and students in achieving excellence.
Also present during the working visit were Awet Gapor and Jasmine Hayward from the Schools Management Sector of the state Education Department.
