KUCHING: CENTEXS-CENTEXS Commercial and Batik Air have launched the ‘On-Ground + Cabin Crew’ programme, making its debut in Sarawak and marking a significant step in the state’s aviation sector development.
In a Facebook today, CENTEXS Commercial said an official visit was held, led by CENTEXS CEO Datuk Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abd Rahman and CENTEXS Commercial General Manager Shahren Yusri, as part of efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two organisations.
Batik Air was represented by its General Manager, Datuk Captain Francis Ch’ng H.K.
The programme is jointly organised by CENTEXS-CENTEXS Commercial, a division of the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS), and Batik Air.
On March 4, Minister for Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin announced the introduction of cabin crew training under CENTEXS’ Aerospace Programme.
The initiative aims to broaden aviation-related training, including ground handling operations, to support the state’s growing aerospace industry.
The programme provides comprehensive training for both male and female flight attendants, equipping them with skills for careers in aviation.
Participants will be trained in cabin crew duties such as safety, customer service, and industry standards, as well as on-ground operations including passenger management, baggage handling, and airport support tasks.
Only candidates who pass assessments and obtain certification will qualify to serve as flight attendants.
Organisers said the initiative is designed to create new career pathways for Sarawak youth in aviation.
Through hands-on training and exposure to industry practices, participants will gain skills that enhance their employability in the aviation sector and related services.
The collaboration between CENTEXS-CENTEXS Commercial and Batik Air is expected to open doors for young Sarawakians while further strengthening ties between the two organisations.
