KUCHING: The Waterfront Hotel Kuching is set to transform its Café Via Mare into a vibrant Bazaar Ramadan experience with the launch of ‘Sungkei Sitok Juh!’, a specially curated buffet dinner for the upcoming fasting month.
Running from Feb 23 to Mar 18, the themed buffet aims to recreate the lively atmosphere of traditional Ramadan bazaars, offering diners an extensive spread of kampung-style favourites, Sarawak specialties and traditional Malay dishes alongside international cuisine and festive desserts.
The hotel unveiled the concept during an exclusive media and content creators preview night on Thursday (Jan 23), where Executive Sous Chef Afiq and his award-winning culinary team showcased signature dishes that embodied the essence of Bazaar Ramadan dining.
“The dishes reflect what Bazaar Ramadan is all about – comforting, generous and rooted in local taste,” Afiq shared during the live culinary demonstration, which received positive feedback from attendees.
To encourage early bookings, the hotel is offering a limited early bird promotion for the first 50 diners daily until Feb 16.
The promotional rate is set at RM148 nett for adults, RM128 nett for senior citizens aged 60 and above, and RM58 nett for children between six and 12 years old.
Regular rates will apply thereafter at RM168 nett, RM148 nett and RM90 nett respectively. Groups of five or more adults can enjoy a five per cent discount while parties of 10 or more receive 10 per cent off normal adult rates.
The buffet will be served nightly from 6.30 pm to 10 pm at the Level 4 restaurant.
The hotel has launched the ‘Stamp, Post & Win!’ campaign to add an interactive element to the dining experience.
Guests can collect stamps during their visits and share their dining moments on social media while tagging the hotel to earn lucky draw entries.
Prizes include complimentary two-day, one-night stays and breakfast buffet vouchers.
In keeping with the spirit of Ramadan, The Waterfront Hotel is also undertaking a corporate social responsibility initiative titled ‘Singgah Sitok Lok, Ambik Bubur Lambok’ in partnership with Masjid Bahagian Kuching.
On Feb 20 at 4.30 pm, the hotel will distribute 500 portions of bubur lambuk to members of the public.
“This meaningful effort reflects our commitment to sharing the blessings of Ramadan and the spirit of togetherness with the community,” a hotel spokesperson said.
