KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has reaffirmed its commitment to serve the people and support fair and inclusive development as it celebrates its 67th anniversary.
In a statement, Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin said SUPP has remained steadfast in championing policies that benefit all Sarawakians regardless of race, religion or background since its founding in 1959.
He said the party has earned public trust and remained responsible by focusing on practical solutions and improvements that directly benefit the interest of Sarawakians.
According to Yap, SUPP continues to play an important role within Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in safeguarding policies that promote balanced development and protect Sarawak’s rights and interests.
“Sarawak’s political stability has enabled the state government to focus on long-term development, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, digital connectivity and economic growth,” he said.
Yap added that residents are more concerned with effective delivery of public services and infrastructure upgrades than political rhetoric.
“The upgrading of Kota Sentosa Town Square, community facilities, and assistance through Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants and Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects are examples of ongoing development efforts,” he added.
He also welcomed the recent tender call for Phase 1 of the Stampin Flood Mitigation Project, describing it as a significant step towards addressing long-standing flood issues in the area.
SUPP will continue working with the GPS government, community leaders and residents to ensure development and opportunities continue to benefit future generations.
