SIBU: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Youth Wing marked Labour Day with an outdoor family gathering near Julau, drawing about 80 participants to strengthen ties among members.
The event drew an encouraging turnout, with many members attending together with their families in a lively and cheerful atmosphere.
SUPP Bawang Assan branch chairman, Kevin Lau Kor Jie, said this marked the Youth Wing’s first outdoor family-oriented activity.
He expressed hope that the initiative would allow members—who are often busy with work and party commitments—to take time to relax during the Labour Day break, while also fostering greater interaction among families and strengthening unity within the branch.
He added that gathering in a natural setting surrounded by waterfalls and bamboo groves not only provided an opportunity to appreciate nature, but also helped to build closer relationships among members, making it a meaningful and memorable experience.

Meanwhile, Youth Wing chief Kapitan Chew Hoo Kiong shared that approximately 80 participants attended the event, representing more than 10 family groups.
Participants gathered in the morning before departing together to the venue, where they enjoyed a casual and enjoyable session of dining and social interaction.
He added that in addition to food prepared by the organisers, families also brought their own dishes and essentials. A barbecue session and food-sharing activities were held, allowing participants to enjoy meals together in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Chew also revealed that the Youth Wing will be organising another gathering on May 9 at Sg Empawah, and welcomed more members and their families to join and continue fostering this spirit of warmth and camaraderie.
