LUBOK ANTU: A foreign man’s suspicious behaviour while riding a motorcycle in Kampung Ili here ended with his arrest yesterday (May 16).

The 25-year-old was intercepted by a task force from the district police headquarters (IPD) during Ops Lejang/Pintas, an operation aimed at curbing criminal activities in the district.

Lubok Antu police said checks on the suspect uncovered that he was unable to produce any valid travel documents to justify his stay in the country.

The team later discovered that the motorcycle he was riding was registered under the name of a local man from Pantu, Sri Aman.

Despite the discovery, police confirmed that no report had been lodged by the registered owner regarding the motorcycle being stolen or missing.

The suspect is being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for entering and residing in Malaysia without valid travel passes or permits.

Police advised members of the public to continue reporting information related to criminal activities, particularly migrant smuggling, to help safeguard the security and peace of Lubok Antu.
