Swinburne Sarawak confers degrees on 378 graduates

KUCHING: A total of 378 graduates were conferred academic qualifications at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (Swinburne Sarawak) April 2026 Graduation Ceremony at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today (Apr 28).

Of the total, 282 graduates received undergraduate degrees across multiple disciplines, including 117 in business, 80 in computing, 40 in engineering, 23 in design, 11 in science, and 10 in media and communication, as well as a double degree in engineering and computer science.

Meanwhile, 64 graduates were awarded diplomas in fields such as business management, digital media design, information technology, accountancy, and early childhood education.

The ceremony was also Swinburne Sarawak’s first graduating cohort for the Diploma of Digital Media Design, Diploma of Early Childhood Education, and Diploma of Information Technology.

At the postgraduate level, 18 graduates received the Master of Business Administration (International), 3 the Master of Information Technology, and 2 the Master of Engineering (Research).

In addition, the university celebrated nine Doctor of Philosophy graduates across the fields of business, engineering, and science.

Apart from the attending graduates, an additional 65 graduates received their awards in absentia during this graduation cycle.

The event was also livestreamed on the university’s official YouTube channel, allowing families and friends to join the celebration virtually.

The ceremony was presided over by Swinburne University of Technology Chancellor Professor John Pollars OAM (Medal of the Order of Australia).

Also present were Swinburne Sarawak Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Ridings, Swinburne Sarawak chairman of the Board of Directors Datuk Amar Jaul Samion, Swinburne Sarawak chairman of the Board of Directors, Pro Vice-Chancellor and chief executive officer Professor Lau Hieng Ho, and members of the council, board of directors, and executive group of Swinburne Sarawak.

For the record, the graduation brought together students from across Malaysia and countries including Bangladesh, Brunei, China, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Kuwait, Maldives, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
