SIBU: A total of 431 companies with 1,559 new employees have been assisted by the Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) in applying for employment allowances under the Penjana Kerjaya 2.0 and 3.0.
SCCCI which revealed this in a statement yesterday (Apr 10) said most of the applications have been approved while the rest are still being processed.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has affected people from all walks of life. In the face of a major impact, the government has provided generous subsidies through the Social Security Organisation (Socso) in the People’s Benefit Programme, and eligible companies can apply under the JaminKerja (employment incentive allowance) programme,” it said.
SCCCI stated that the employment incentive allowance JaminKerja has started accepting applications with the new employee allowance of up to RM42,000.
“Under this allowance, the government is encouraging companies to hire unemployed persons and graduates,” it said.
