BAU: Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with an alleged sexual assault involving a minor and the circulation of an obscene video on social media.
Bau District Police Chief, Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman, said the arrest was made on Friday (October 10) following a report lodged by the victim’s mother a day earlier.
“In the report, the complainant said that her underage child was assaulted by her daughter’s ex-boyfriend, and an indecent video of the victim has had been shared on social media platforms without permission.
“Acting on the report, a police team from the Bau Criminal Investigation Division detained the suspect in Krokong here,” Mohd Haide said in a statement.
Police also seized a mobile phone for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code for rape, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for misuse of network facilities.
