KUCHING: A 19-year-old man allegedly behind the fatal hit-and-run involving a cyclist along Jalan Stutong last week, has surrendered himself to police yesterday (May 5).
The teenager is believed to have been behind the wheel of a Proton Satria involved in the deadly crash that claimed the life of a cyclist in the early hours of May 1.

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspect turned himself in at the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division office at noon.
“Police later arrested the suspect under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death.
“Following the arrest, the suspect led investigators to the accident scene and later to a workshop at Mile 4, Kuching, where the Proton Satria believed to have been involved in the crash was found,” he said.
Initial urine screening conducted on the suspect returned negative for drugs.
Alexson said the suspect is expected to be charged today under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, as well as under Section 52(2) of the same Act for failing to report the accident within 24 hours.
On May 1, the 56-year-old victim was killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident at around 5.40am. He was pronounced dead due to severe head injuries at 6.30am by paramedics.
It is understood the victim was meeting friends for a cycling trip when an unidentified vehicle rear-ended him before fleeing the scene.
