KUCHING: The closing ceremony of the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) Community Partner programme was held at TEGAS Digital Village yesterday, officiated by Deputy Minister for Transport (Air and Road) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.
Chief executive officer Udin Bujang said the programme is a strategic cooperation platform between TEGAS and school councillors in helping improve the delivery of information to students.

“This programme is a strategic collaboration platform between TEGAS and school councillors to build a more structured, fast and effective ecosystem for delivering information to students.”
The programme was carried out in stages across the state, starting in Sibu, followed by Miri, before ending in Kuching.
A total of 225 participants took part, involving engagement sessions with TEGAS, the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), and the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS), as well as exposure to education opportunities and student development in STEM and TVET fields.
“Participants have attended with high educational opportunities as well as students’ skills development in STEM fields.”
Udin said the institutions involved also allowed teachers to see the available programmes and facilities for students.
“Institutions such as Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, Curtin University Malaysia, University of Technology Sarawak, i-CATS University College, CENTEXS and Kolej Laila Taib have opened their doors to teachers to see for themselves the academic programmes and educational opportunities available for Sarawak students.”
He noted that the programme supports the Sarawak government’s efforts through the Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES), which aims to help students continue higher education without financial burden.
“This initiative is in line with the aspiration of the Sarawak government through the Free Tertiary Education Scheme, which gives opportunities for students to continue higher education without financial burden, and to increase social mobility and human capital development.”
