MIRI: More than 10,000 bags of 10-kilogramme rice were distributed to those in need, regardless of race or religion, during the 11th Charity Rice Donation programme organised by the Some Shak Lung Kung Temple today.

The event, officiated by Minister of Transport and Senadin’s State Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, highlighted the temple’s ongoing commitment to fostering unity and compassion among Miri’s multiracial community.

Lee praised the initiative, describing it as a strong example of community harmony and mutual support that reflects Sarawak’s spirit of togetherness.

“We must maintain peace and social stability so that Sarawak can continue to progress and achieve high-income status by 2030,” he said.

The annual programme drew hundreds of volunteers and donors who joined forces to ensure the rice reached recipients across Miri, further strengthening the temple’s role as a symbol of unity and kindness in the community.
