KUCHING: For the first time ever, Thailand Week is being held in Kuching, bringing together the vibrant blend of Thai trade, culture and consumer experience under one roof.
The exhibition, taking place at The Spring Shopping Mall from July 31 to August 3, features 100 booths representing a wide range of Thai businesses and exporters.

According to Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) Malaysia Director, Worawan Wanwil, the event is special because of its dual focus on both Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) interactions.
“While the main aim is to foster business partnerships between Thai exporters and local Sarawakian companies, the event also offers an engaging fair-like atmosphere for shoppers and they can come to do some shopping and then that will help the brands to get more and more exposure too,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after officiating the Thailand Week Media Tour at The Spring Shopping Mall here today.
He also pointed to trade statistics that highlight untapped potential in Sarawak as the reason for choosing Kuching at this time.
“We noticed we’ve traded less in this region. With global trade dynamics shifting, it’s more important than ever to strengthen regional trade within ASEAN.
“So this is what we try to do and this is what we want to do. We just start from the small things with hope that it’s going to grow bigger,” he said.
As for the message to visitors, he emphasised the opportunity this event presents.
“We try to bring all businesses from Thailand that want to be your partners, and we want to bring more choices to all the customers here too.
“So just come have a look and then see if you feel about it. And then if the response is good, maybe we can see you more often,” said Worawan.
Thailand Week promises a unique blend of Thai flavours – including snacks, spices, sauces, and more – along with fashion and lifestyle offerings such as handicrafts, traditional herbal products, and spa essentials.
