SARIKEI: Over 3,000 participants from 44 contingents defied the rain and came together with unwavering enthusiasm to take part in the Maulidur Rasul 1447 Hijrah/2025 Masihi procession and parade at the Sarikei Division level on Thursday.
Tanjong Manis Member of Parliament, Yusuf Abdul Wahab, expressed his gratitude to Allah SWT for the successful event, which saw strong participation from various sectors, highlighting the spirit of unity within the community.
He stressed the importance of continuing the Maulidur Rasul celebration as a collective effort to honour the legacy of Prophet Muhammad SAW.
“This year’s theme, ‘Ummah Maju Makmur’ (A Progressive and Prosperous Ummah), is perfectly aligned with our commitment to uniting our minds, harmonising our actions, and striving for excellence not just for the state and the nation, but also to ensure that the Muslim community remains united, prosperous and advancing,” he remarked during his speech at the event’s opening ceremony.
Additionally, he reminded Muslims to stay true to the teachings of Islam and avoid divisions, citing the verses from Surah Al-Imran (103) and a hadith from Prophet Muhammad SAW that emphasise the importance of brotherhood and unity.
“I hope this celebration serves as a reminder of the importance of studying the life of Prophet Muhammad SAW, strengthening our unity, and fostering a deeper love for our beloved Prophet,” he added.
Yusuf also took a moment to thank all those who contributed to the event’s success, acknowledging their efforts despite the challenges posed by time constraints and the rainy weather.
The procession was divided into four main categories: Category A, which included government departments, agencies, statutory bodies, private companies, and financial institutions (15 contingents); Category B, which included national schools, secondary schools, skill centres, and higher education institutions (11 contingents); Category C, which featured mosques, suraus, Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), and Neighbourhood Watch Areas (KRT) (nine contingents); and Category D, which involved associations, clubs and organisations (nine contingents).
