MIRI: Three men were arrested on suspected drug offences, while 64 traffic summonses were issued during an integrated crime prevention operation conducted by the Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD Miri) on Saturday night.
The operation involved 35 police personnel, comprising six senior officers and 29 other officers, deployed across the district for roadblocks, snap checks, mobile patrols, and inspections of entertainment outlets.
Police said the operation began at 10 pm following a briefing by ASP Lee Yen Fang, Head of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division at IPD Miri.
Roadblocks at several locations uncovered a range of traffic offences, including driving without a valid licence, illegal vehicle modifications, missing side mirrors, modified exhaust systems, the use of non-compliant registration plates, and expired road tax. A total of 64 summonses were issued.
Patrol units also carried out snap checks in residential areas, villages, and along major roads to strengthen police visibility and deter criminal activity.
Police said the heightened presence was intended to reassure the public and maintain a safe environment for residents.
Inspections of entertainment outlets resulted in the arrest of three adult men for alleged drug offences.
IPD Miri said similar operations would continue to be carried out periodically to prevent crime, enhance public safety, and maintain a visible police presence across the district.
