KUANTAN, Pahang: Three Bangladeshi men were killed and two others injured after the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) they were travelling in skidded off the road at Kilometer 200.8 of the East Coast Highway (LPT) 1 near here yesterday.

Acting Kuantan Police chief Supt Mohd Adli Mat Daud said the crash, which occurred at about 7:30 pm, resulted in the death of the driver, Md Sabber Hasan, 30, and two passengers, Md Jahid Hasan, 21, and Abdullah, 24, at the scene.

He said initial investigations found that they were travelling in a Toyota Avanza from Kuantan towards Kuala Lumpur, when the driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid to the left side of the road.

The crash also resulted in the injury of two other passengers, Md Habib Bissas, 45, and Maniram Chandra Bas, 40, who were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here for treatment,  he said in a statement.

Adli said initial investigations also found that the driver of the MPV did not have a valid driving license, and the road tax of the vehicle involved had expired since May 2025.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – BERNAMA
