KUCHING: Education is a comprehensive undertaking to shape knowledgeable, ethical and competitive individuals.

In making this point, Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, described it is a long-term investment yielding significant benefits to individuals, society and the nation.

“Without education, progress and prosperity will remain difficult to achieve,” he said at the SPM 2024 Student Incentive Awards and launch of safety jackets and helmets for SMK Bako Students on Saturday (Jan 31).

“The most precious wealth bestowed upon us is our intellect, whilst the greatest tragedy is ignorance. The most enduring legacy is education,” he said.

In his speech, Dr Hazland, who is Demak Laut state assemblyman, outlined five key areas where education proves vital such as in improving living standards, shaping character and morals, advancing the nation, reducing poverty and social gaps and building a critical-thinking society.
