KUCHING: Twenty four officers from the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) have completed an intensive five-day motorcycle escort course aimed at strengthening the Royal Malaysia Police’s capability to provide safe and efficient escorts for dignitaries during official engagements.
The VIP Escort Motorcycle Course (MOTOKED) JSPT Sarawak Series 1/2026, held from Jun 22 to 26, brought together officers and personnel from the Traffic Motorcycle Patrol Unit (BSPT), JSPT and the Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) unit.
The programme combined classroom instruction with practical exercises focused on the specialised demands of VIP escort operations.
Participants underwent training in advanced motorcycle handling, convoy management, road junction control, operational communications and security procedures required during high-profile movements.
To replicate real operational conditions, practical sessions were conducted along major routes linking Kuching, Serian, Tebedu, Bau, Sematan and Santubong, as well as at Kuching International Airport and the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), both regular venues for official arrivals and state functions.
The course ended with a closing ceremony officiated by Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Bingkok John.
He said the training was designed to enhance the operational readiness, professionalism and technical competency of traffic police officers entrusted with escorting dignitaries, while reinforcing the importance of discipline, coordination and safety during every assignment.
VIP motorcycle escorts play a critical role in ensuring the secure and uninterrupted movement of senior government leaders, visiting dignitaries and other high-profile individuals, often operating in challenging traffic conditions that demand precision riding, rapid decision-making and close coordination with multiple police units.
