BINTULU: The 4.1-kilometre (km) dual carriageway project from the Tun Taib Mahmud Bridge (TTM) to Bintulu Airport is currently under way.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that the project, which is expected to be completed in May 2027, is crucial for improving the infrastructure network in the Bintulu area and must be completed on schedule.

He said discussions with contractors are ongoing to ensure the smooth progress of the construction work, but several land issues have been identified as the main challenges.
“This land issue has been discussed with the Land and Survey Department to be resolved immediately to avoid disruption to the contractor.
“So far, the progress is still below one per cent,” he said during a site visit here today.
He also stressed the need to make early preparations for the monsoon season, which is expected to arrive soon.
“Recently, the floods that occurred in Kanowit, Serian and Sibu show that the weather is becoming increasingly unpredictable.
“Therefore, we will review the disaster management mechanism and identify weaknesses so that enforcement is more effective,” he explained.
In a related development, he said that assistance amounting to RM1,000 had been distributed to each flood victim.
He stressed that for those who did not move to temporary evacuation centres, confirmation from the Resident’s Office was required to ensure that assistance was only given to deserving groups.
“All assistance must be clearly distributed to the target group so that there is no confusion,” he said.
