KUCHING: Two men were arrested for fighting in front of a police station and obstructing civil servants from discharging their duties on Nov 15.

Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the incident occurred at 10.45pm in front of Batu Kawah police station here.

It was believed that the two men, aged 28 and 36, were under the influence of alcohol.

They had a misunderstanding and decided to go to the police station with the intention of solving the problem, but got into a fight after they arrived.

“Two policemen saw the scuffle and attempted to resolve the fight but the suspects did not cooperate and punched them (policemen).

“As a result, the policemen had to use some force to make the arrests as both suspects were behaving aggressively,” he said.

Aidil added that the suspects have been charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code in the Magistrate’s Court here.

They were fined RM2,000 each and were sentenced to a two-month imprisonment.
