Two hurt as motorcycle catches fire after crash

SIBURAN: Two individuals escaped a fiery death after the motorcycle they were riding crashed and burst into flames at Mile 12, Jalan Tenne Richen here this morning.

The accident happened at around 7.20am when a Yamaha LC135, ridden by a man and a woman, skidded off the road before catching fire.

Fortunately, the flames had already been extinguished by members of the public before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Siburan station were dispatched to the scene, about 17km away, following an emergency call.

Upon arrival, they found the rider and his pillion rider by the roadside and confirmed that they sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Both were given initial treatment before being taken to the hospital for further care.

Once the situation was deemed safe and there is no risk of reignition, the team wrapped up the operation at around 7.50am.
