MIRI: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has called on Muslims to embrace the true spirit of Hijrah by striving for self-improvement, strengthening their faith and contributing to a more prosperous and harmonious society.
In his Ma’al Hijrah 1448H message, Wan Junaidi said the Islamic New Year should serve as a time for reflection and renewal, encouraging Muslims to enhance their knowledge, character and good deeds.
“Ma’al Hijrah is not merely a commemoration of a historical event in the development of Islam.
“It is also a reminder for Muslims to continuously improve themselves, strengthen their faith and increase their knowledge and charitable deeds.
“The story of the Prophet Muhammad’s migration teaches us that the progress of an ummah begins with sincerity, unity and determination in carrying out what is pleasing to Allah SWT,” he said in his message.
Wan Junaidi, together with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, extended Ma’al Hijrah greetings to Muslims in Sarawak and throughout Malaysia.
Referring to this year’s theme, “Ummah Maju Makmur”, Wan Junaidi urged Muslims to preserve unity, strengthen social harmony and uphold integrity and responsibility in their daily lives.
He said lasting prosperity could only be achieved when societal development is accompanied by strong moral values, knowledge and the practice of Islamic principles.
Wan Junaidi and Fauziah also prayed for continued peace, wellbeing and prosperity for the people of Sarawak and Malaysia.
“May Allah SWT continue to bestow His mercy, blessings and protection upon all the people and grant lasting peace, wellbeing and prosperity to Sarawak and Malaysia.
“Salam Ma’al Hijrah 1448H, Ummah Maju Makmur,” he said.
