KUCHING: Lieutenant General Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng has paid a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at Astana Negeri today (Sept 29).

The visit was held in conjunction with Lim’s recent promotion to Lieutenant General and to convey his appreciation and gratitude to Wan Junaidi for the advice and guidance he has given.

Lim, who is Malaysia’s first Chinese Lieutenant General, was promoted in June 2025 in recognition of his dedication and commitment over 41 years of service in the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

He previously served for 12 years in Sarawak, including in Bario, Long Semadoh, Ba’Kelalan, Kapit, and Belaga.

Among the key positions he held were with the 2nd and 4th Battalions of the Royal Ranger Regiment at Oya Camp in Sibu, as well as with the 3rd Brigade Headquarters at Penrissen Camp, Kuching.

His last posting in Sarawak was as Commander of the 31st Brigade in Sibu from 2018 to 2020, during which he was directly involved in Ops Penawar in Kuching, Sibu, and Bintulu during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In his meeting with Wan Junaidi, Lim also shared his vision to strengthen the preparedness and defense of the Malaysian Armed Forces, while emphasizing the importance of discipline, patriotism, and leadership among the younger generation.

He was accompanied on the courtesy call by the Director General of Health, Army Field Command Headquarters (MK PMTTD), Brigadier General (Dr) Saiful Anuar Ju @ Ju Ahmad.

The visit also saw the presentation of the books “Memoirs of the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans MACVA Vol. 1”, “Memoirs Malaya and Borneo at War MACVA Vol. 2”, and “Sandhurst: A Tradition of Leadership” to Wan Junaidi.
