TRISO: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has visited Kampung Triso in conjunction with the Kembara D’Astana to Lingga programme, where he toured heritage sites and met with the local community today (May 2).
Accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, they began the journey from the Sarawak Rivers Board (LSS) Terminal as early as 6.26 am before arriving at the Triso Fisheries Jetty at 9.50 am.
Upon arrival, they were welcomed by Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development and Layar assemblyman Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu. The local community also presented a hadrah performance before the visit continued.
Among the main activities was a visit to the Kampung Triso cemetery, followed by a brief tahlil recitation and prayers for the deceased as a mark of respect to past residents.
He then toured several historical sites in the village, including the old house site and an old well, which serve as symbols of heritage and reflect the history of the local community.
The visit concluded with Zohor prayers in congregation at Masjid Al-Muhajirin. Wan Junaidi also presented a contribution of RM20,000 to the mosque’s management.
