KUCHING: The aroma of home-cooked dishes filled Medan Niaga Satok yesterday morning as Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi graced the ‘Air Tangan Suri Hati TYT Sarawak’ cooking demonstration held in conjunction with the 2025 Medan Niaga Satok Carnival.

She arrived at Media Niaga Satok at 9 am and was welcomed by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi’s wife Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin; Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) director-general Abdul Rashid Bahri; PUSPANITA chairperson Salina Nawi; and FAMA Sarawak director Norsalawaty Abdul Kadir.

The event began with a cooking demonstration featuring Fauziah showcasing three dishes — Agromas sardines, chicken soup and stir-fried midin with belacan — assisted by Norsalawaty.

Fauziah, the wife of Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, was also accompanied by her daughters, Sharifah Fariah and Sharifah Nong-Jasima, and her son-in-law Hakeem.

She later visited several exhibition booths, including those by FAMA, Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED), and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC).

Fauziah also expressed appreciation for the programme and commended efforts to promote local products and encourage public interest in homegrown offerings.

She hoped similar programmes would continue to enliven community activities, enhance visitor experience and support the growth of the local food and agriculture industries.

Meanwhile, the three-day carnival held from Nov 28 to 30 was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) through FAMA, in collaboration with the Sarawak government.

The carnival aimed to promote agri-food products as well as position Medan Niaga Satok as a premier destination for fresh produce and agro-based industries.
