MUKAH: A jobless man was arrested for allegedly possessing methamphetamine worth RM622 during a police raid in Kampung Tellian Laut today (Feb 23).

Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the arrest took place at an unnumbered house around 10 am following suspicions of drug-related activities.

“During the raid, the team seized two plastic packets containing a crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine, weighing 6.22g with a market value of RM622.

“The 31-year-old suspect and the seized drugs were taken to the police station for further action,” he said in a statement.

Rizal added that the suspect tested positive for drugs and will be investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

If convicted, he could face imprisonment, caning, a fine, or be placed under police supervision for up to three years.
