BETONG: Four mission schools in the Layar constituency have received a total of RM512,098 in funding assistance from the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR).
Present to hand over the mock cheques was the Deputy Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu.
The schools receiving the allocations are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) St Bartholomew, which was given RM100,000 for the construction of a new covered walkway, and SK St Augustine, which also received RM100,000 for upgrading and maintenance works on the old administration block, along with an additional RM11,908 for the purchase of a smart board TV.
Meanwhile, SK St Mark received RM41,000 to upgrade its drainage system and acquire equipment for the School Resource Centre, while Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) St Augustine received the largest allocation of RM260,000 for the construction of a new girls’ dormitory, the purchase of Smart TVs, and repainting works for Blocks A, B, C, Wawasan and the school’s Computer Room.
The funding is expected to strengthen the quality of educational facilities and provide a more comfortable and safer learning environment for students in the Betong area.
