KUCHING: The Malaysia Children Daycare Association has urged unregistered children daycare centres nationwide to complete their registration procedures to help improve industry standards and ensure a safer learning environment for children.

Its founder and chairman Simon Ng said proper registration would not only enhance the overall quality of services provided by children daycare centres, but also strengthen parents’ confidence in the industry.

He said registered centres would allow children to learn and grow in a more organised and supervised environment.

“At the same time, the registration system can help standardise the industry and ensure better monitoring of children daycare centres operations nationwide,” he said in a statement today.

Ng also proposed that the government consider extending the validity period of children daycare centres registrations from the current five years to 10 years.

He said the move could help reduce the administrative burden faced by operators due to frequent renewal processes.

He also said longer registration period would allow operators to focus more on improving teaching quality and management standards instead of repetitive administrative procedures.

“Children daycare centres operators not only look after students’ after-school learning and safety, but also bear manpower, training and operational costs.

“If the registration validity period can be reasonably extended, it will help operators plan for long-term development in a more stable manner,” he said.

Ng said the association would continue engaging with relevant authorities to voice concerns and suggestions from industry players.

He also expressed hope that both the government and industry stakeholders could work together towards a more professional and systematic development of the children daycare centres sector in the country.
