BAU: The enhancement of infrastructure development in this district under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) is viewed as having a direct positive impact on the wellbeing of the local community.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the recent GKCDA project monitoring visit to Bau formed part of ongoing efforts to ensure the smooth implementation of development projects at the grassroots level.

He said the visit focused on several strategic projects, including the upgrading of Bau Civic Centre, the upgrading of St. Stephen’s Church, as well as the construction and improvement of the road from Kampung Kopit to Segubang.

According to him, these projects are aimed at enhancing public facilities and user comfort, while also supporting the area’s growing development needs.

“For example, the upgrading of Dewan Suarah Bau involves the installation of modern facilities such as escalators and lifts to facilitate public movement, while improving operational efficiency at the premises,” he was quoted as saying in an UKAS report.

He added that several other projects would continue to be monitored from time to time to ensure that development benefits are fully enjoyed by the community.

The visit was also attended by Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Marine) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, as well as Serembu assemblyman Datuk Miro Simuh.

Earlier, similar monitoring visits were carried out in the Tanjong Datu and Opar constituencies, completing the government’s comprehensive approach in assessing project progress and identifying areas for improvement.
