SARATOK: An argument turned violent as a man allegedly assaulted his wife and was arrested by police at Kampung Melango Lama.
Saratok district police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said a report was received in regards to a domestic dispute between the couple that ended with bodily harm on the 43-year-old female victim.
“The incident happened on June 24, where the complainant (victim) and the suspect (husband) engaged in an argument inside their home.
“The suspect (47 years old) was enraged and assaulted the complainant with a tile which breaks into pieces.
“The complainant sustained laceration and bleeding to the forehead, and she lodged a police report and received treatment for her injuries,” he said.
The next day, on Thursday (June 25), police arrested the suspect in Kampung Melango Lama.
Mathew said the suspect admitted to have caused bodily harm to his wife, and the argument was due to suspicion that his wife was having an affair with another man.
The suspect also admitted to have been under the influence of illicit substances hours before the argument.
He was tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine through a urine screening test, and have a prior record involving drug abuse activities.
The case is being classified under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
