ACTRESS Wafariena Roslan has revealed that she is still waiting to receive the balance of her payment for a telemovie she starred in four years ago and was forced to cover part of her own medical expenses after suffering an injury during filming.
The 31-year-old said repeated attempts to recover the money have been unsuccessful, claiming the production company is no longer operating while its producer and director cannot be contacted.
Wafariena said her lawyer had issued three letters of demand to the company, but to no avail.
“My lawyer went to their office and found that the premises had been vacated.
The director has disappeared — everyone has disappeared,” she said at the launch and press conference for the film ‘The Real Mamu’ recently. “They have remained silent for almost a year.
I’m not angry, but I cannot accept losing money that is rightfully mine.”
According to the ‘Tujuh Hari Mencintaiku’ actress, the company still owes her tens of thousands of ringgit in acting fees.
She also claimed that only half of her hospital bill was paid, leaving her to settle the remaining balance of more than RM8,000 herself.
“I have not come to terms with it and I have yet to forgive those responsible.
Not only has this situation been exhausting, but I have also had to endure the pain from my injuries,” she said.
Wafariena added that the unresolved dispute has prevented the telemovie from being released.
“They cannot air the drama because filming was never fully completed.
I have yet to submit my voice-over recording because they have not made the final payment to me,” she said.
She warned that screening the production without her consent could result in legal consequences, as she has already initiated legal action.
In October 2022, Wafariena was hospitalised after sustaining injuries while performing a stunt during filming in a forested area in Lenggong, Perak.
She alleged that she suffered serious injuries and internal bleeding after being asked to perform a dangerous stunt, and claimed filming was expected to continue despite her condition.
