KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar received two courtesy calls at the Astana Negeri here today (Sept 24).

The first was from the Sarawak Scouts Council delegation, led by its president Tan Sri Datuk William Mawan Ikom, who is also Pakan assemblyman.

The delegation included deputy president Jumaat Ibrahim and newly appointed Sarawak Scouts Council Commissioner John Lim Boon Beng and others.

The visit aimed to introduce Lim as the new Commissioner and to update on the progress of the new Sarawak Scouts Headquarters currently under construction at Jalan Batu Lintang. The delegation also shared the latest developments on various activities organised by the council.

During the discussion, Wan Junaidi highlighted the enduring importance of scouting values in daily life. He stressed that discipline and responsibility, community service, trust and integrity, respect for the environment, as well as tolerance and unity, are essential foundations for shaping a better, more united, and responsible society.

He expressed confidence that these values would not only nurture outstanding individuals but also contribute to building a harmonious and progressive society in Sarawak.

The second courtesy call was from Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata and his wife, Datin Jennita William.

The visit was held in conjunction with Mancha’s mandatory retirement on September 29, marking more than three decades of service with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

Throughout his career, Mancha served in several states, including Perak and Sabah, before returning to Sarawak in 2021 as Deputy Police Commissioner. In November 2023, he was appointed Sarawak Police Commissioner.

Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, conveyed their deepest appreciation and gratitude for Mancha’s dedication, contributions, and service throughout his career, particularly in safeguarding Sarawak’s peace and security.

They also offered prayers and best wishes for Mancha and his family to be continually blessed with success and prosperity in his retirement.
