SIBU: Water supply at Lorong Kiew Nang has been fully restored following the successful completion of repair works on a main pipeline.
In its latest update at 5.45pm on Wednesday (Apr 29), Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd confirmed that re-jointing works on the damaged pipe were completed at 5.30pm, allowing the system in the affected area to return to normal operations.
The utility provider said the disruption caused by a landslip required extensive repair efforts at the site with its technical team worked for nearly 24 hours under challenging conditions to resolve the issue.
“Technicians excavated an eight-foot-deep trench while navigating unstable electricity and telecommunications poles, and installed a new 20-metre pipe connection,” it said.
Despite exhaustion, Sarawak Water said the team pressed on when a leak was detected at the coupler, promptly shutting the valve and redoing the jointing works from the beginning to ensure the repair was completed properly.
“All efforts were carried out with one goal — to restore water supply as quickly as possible,” it said, describing the team as “unsung heroes” for their dedication.
Sarawak Water also expressed appreciation to consumers for their patience and understanding throughout the disruption.
With the repairs now completed, water supply at Lorong Kiew Nang has returned to normal.
Consumers experiencing any lingering issues are advised to contact Sarawak Water’s Central Region hotline at 013-8106311.
