KUCHING: The proposed Weather Radar Tower will strengthen weather forecasting capabilities and is expected to be completed by Aug 3, 2027.
The project, which commenced on Feb 4, aims to enhance weather monitoring and forecasting accuracy and speed in order to improve early warning systems for natural disasters such as floods and storms.
“The scope of work for the project includes the construction of a 1-block office building and tower, a guardhouse, a pump shed, and a parking facility,” it said in a Facebook post by the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) yesterday (May 25).
Once completed, the Weather Radar Tower is expected to improve real-time weather monitoring capabilities, allowing for more accurate forecasts and faster warnings for heavy rain, storms, and flooding events.
It is also expected to support aviation safety and daily operations, while strengthening disaster management efforts and enhancing overall community preparedness in Sarawak.
