KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was among prominent state and federal dignitaries who attended a wedding reception hosted by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol and his wife, Datin Nora Ashikin Ibrahim, at Majma Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Hall here on Friday night (May 29).
The event brought together senior government leaders, elected representatives and distinguished guests in a celebration attended by nearly 800 people.
Abang Johari, accompanied by his daughter Dayang Norjihan Abang Johari, arrived at about 8.30pm and was welcomed by Abdullah and Nora Ashikin, along with other dignitaries.
Among those in attendance were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian and his wife Datin Amar Enn Ong, Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister of Utility and Telecommunications Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, and Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Deputy Minister of Utility (Sarawak Energy Berhad and PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Chief Political Secretary to the Premier Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, Tanjung Manis MP Datuk Yusuf Abdul Wahab were also present.
The reception was enlivened by cultural performances, a special sketch and musical entertainment by renowned national artiste Bob Yusof and local singers.
The celebration was held in conjunction with the marriages of Damia Nur Abdullah, 31, and Mustafa Kamal Yahya, 36, as well as Lieutenant Danishafiq Abdullah, 28, and Nr Nadirah Adnan, 28, who had previously solemnised their unions in Peninsular Malaysia.
