KUCHING: The Kuching Division Social Welfare Department is appealing for public help to trace a man whose presence is crucial in deciding the future of his five-year-old son.
The man, identified as Norismail Sharkawi, 42, was last known to be living at Jalan Seberang Temerloh, Kampung Bintang, Temerloh, Pahang.
His five-year-and-seven-month-old son, Mohammad Nor Qalif Norismail, has been classified as a child requiring care and protection under the Child Act 2001.
Officials said the court requires input from the boy’s biological father before making a ruling on his placement and long-term welfare.
“We urge Norismail or anyone who knows his whereabouts to come forward immediately. The information is vital to ensure the child’s best interests are protected,” the department said in a statement.
Members of the public with information are urged to contact the case protector at the Kuching Division Social Welfare Department by calling 082-507111 / 082-507999 or emailing norsiela@jkm.gov.my.
