KUCHING: Sarawakians have welcomed the appointment of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim.

His Majesty was sworn in yesterday as the new King of Malaysia in a ceremony steeped in tradition at Istana Negara.

When polled by the New Sarawak Tribune, members of the public expressed hope that the King will usher an era of prosperity and unity.

They also welcome the King’s firmness in tackling issues such as corruption as well as promoting good governance.
