PADAWAN: Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin hopes the GPS incumbents for Mambong, Tarat and Serembu will be retained as candidates for the coming state election, pledging his full support if they are fielded again.
Willie said Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn and Datuk Miro Simuh had demonstrated their ability to serve through their work and development efforts in the three constituencies.
“We have worked together for the past five years without any problems. This stability and cooperation can bring progress to the people.
“I hope all three will be retained, and I will go all out to support them,” he said when met by reporters after the 2026 Class B2 Driving Licence Assistance Programme licence presentation ceremony at Kasah Event Centre here today.
While hoping all three incumbents would be retained, Willie said he would respect the Premier’s decision on candidate selection.
He welcomed healthy competition, saying voters should assess leaders based on their records of service.
“We respect the opposition. Now is the time for leaders to showcase their report cards and let voters judge what they have delivered.
“Many development projects have been undertaken across the three constituencies, including those under Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) efforts,” he said.
However, he acknowledged that some needs remained unmet and that certain federal projects had been tendered but had yet to be implemented.
Willie said criticism from the opposition would be taken seriously and used to guide improvements in service delivery.
He added that performance dashboards and project lists were being compiled to show the work undertaken by the three assemblymen and his parliamentary service centre.
“We would be lying to voters if we said we could fulfil everything 100 per cent. But we have done our best and will continue striving to deliver the best,” he said.
