Woman killed, four injured in three-vehicle collision in Sibu

SIBU: A woman was killed while four others were injured in a three-vehicle collision along Jalan Sibu–Bintulu, in front of Yu Lung San Tian En Temple at Mile 15 Jalan Sibu-Bintulu on Sunday evening.
 
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 5.46pm and dispatched a team from Sibu Jaya station to the scene.
 
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the accident involved two Proton Saga cars — a Proton Saga MC3 and a Proton Saga FLX — as well as a lorry.
 
One victim was trapped inside the Proton Saga FLX.
 
Firefighters carried out rescue operations and extricated the victim using a stretcher.
 
A total of nine people were involved in the collision. The four occupants of the Proton Saga MC3, comprising two adult men and two adult women, escaped unhurt.
 
However, a female passenger among five occupants of the Proton Saga FLX was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Four others, including two women sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
