SONG: Agencies and departments involved in the construction of the new SK Nanga Temalat building should work closely together to resolve outstanding issues and expedite the project.
Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said closer coordination among the agencies involved, including the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD), Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) and MEITD was crucial to addressing the outstanding issues.
He said the remaining issues must be addressed promptly to enable the new school building to be handed over and used by pupils as soon as possible.
“My hope is that our pupils can use these new classrooms as soon as possible. With the completion of the new school building, I hope the pupils will be more comfortable and more motivated to learn. That is what we want,” he said.
He said this after conducting a working visit to SK Nanga Temalat yesterday (Aug 12).
During the visit, Sagah inspected the progress of the project, which is being implemented under the Dilapidated Schools Refurbishment Programme in Sarawak.
PWD Sarawak also briefed him on the project’s current progress, including the status of works and matters requiring further action before the building can be handed over to the school.
Sagah hoped all outstanding issues could be resolved by the end of the year, allowing the new building to be used at the beginning of the next school session.
