BATU PAHAT, Johor: The ‘Ziarah Kasih’ Programme not only provides assistance to those in need but also serves as a platform for the government to identify the needs of the people and share solutions that can help improve their standard of living.
The approach was felt by persons with disabilities (PwD) entrepreneur, Mohd Norizuwan Ismail, 41, when Communications Minister, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, visited his home in Kampung Buloh Laut, Senggarang here today, which opened up an opportunity for him to explore digital marketing to expand his ‘lai chi kang’ business.
Norizuwan, who suffers from brittle bone disease (osteogenesis imperfecta), said that all this time he as only sold lai chi kang by placing them at a nearby stall because he lacks knowledge on online marketing.
“All this time, I have been selling directly to customers and placing them in a shop. I really don’t know how to market the product online.
“When the YB (Yang Berhormat) came, he suggested that I do a live broadcast on TikTok and brought an officer to show how to use social media to grow the business. In my opinion, it is indeed very helpful,” he said when met by BERNAMA after the visit.
He said the guidance provided new hope for expanding his business without relying too much on face-to-face sales, thus allowing him to reach more customers.
“As someone who is not very skilled in using technology, the guidance has opened up opportunities for me to increase my income and expand the market for my products,” he said.
In addition to Norizuwan, Fahmi also visited Norreyan Minhat, 50, who is no longer working after suffering a stroke a few years ago, at his home in Taman Desa Seri Banang here.
The ‘Ziarah Kasih’ Programme is an initiative by the Ministry of Communications through the Malaysian Information Department (JAPEN) aimed at reaching out to target groups such as the elderly, bedridden patients, PwD, and asnaf families by providing basic necessity assistance.
In addition to alleviating the burden on recipients, the programme aims to strengthen relationships and communication networks between leaders, government agencies and the local community, while also fostering a spirit of concern, togetherness, and social responsibility in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI. – BERNAMA
