KUCHING: A total of 21 men were detained after testing positive for drugs during three-day anti-drug operations that were carried out across the district.

The arrests were made under ‘Ops Perdana’ conducted from April 14 to 16 by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) Kuching.

Enforcement teams focused on several high-risk areas, including Kampung Haji Baki, Kampung Bumbok, Kampung Matang Batu 9, Taman Kopodims, Kampung Bentara, Kampung No. 6, Bandar Baru Semariang, Kampung Rampangi and Kampung Pinang Jawa.

Initial screening found that all those detained tested positive for drugs, with no arrests involving women recorded during the operations.

“A total of 16 individuals tested positive for methamphetamine, four for ketum and one for ketamine,” AADK said in a statement.

All suspects are being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.
