LUBOK ANTU: A total of 306 recipients from 13 longhouses received land titles for 417 lots within Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (SALCRA) development areas during the agency’s 50th Golden Jubilee celebration today (July 30).
The titles, covering 903 hectares of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land across the Batang Ai, Batu Kaya and Lemanak SALCRA estates, were presented by Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, at SALCRA Merindun Palm Oil Mill 2 here.
The presentation, jointly organised by SALCRA and the Sri Aman Land and Survey Department, marked one of the key highlights of SALCRA’s 50th anniversary celebration and reinforced ongoing efforts to formalise NCR land ownership in rural communities.
Of the 417 land lots, 34 covering 31 hectares were issued under Section 13 of the Sarawak Land Code to 34 recipients representing 37 registered landowners from one longhouse.
The remaining 383 lots, covering 872 hectares, were issued under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code to 272 recipients representing 300 registered landowners from 12 longhouses.
The land titles involved SALCRA development areas within the Lubok Antu parliamentary constituency, encompassing the Batang Ai and Engkilili state constituencies.
According to the Land and Survey Department, the initiative is in line with the SALCRA Ordinance 1976, which provides for the systematic surveying, verification and registration of NCR land to safeguard participants’ land ownership rights.
The department said the issuance of land titles provides legal certainty for landowners, helps minimise land ownership disputes and supports sustainable development within SALCRA estates.
Since 2020, SALCRA has been recognised by the Land and Survey Department to undertake cadastral surveys through its own survey team, enabling the agency to accelerate the surveying and verification process for land within its development areas.
The celebration also featured the SALCRA 50th Anniversary Outreach Programme Exhibition, bringing together government agencies, SALCRA subsidiaries and private sector organisations.
The exhibition showcased participant development services, technical and engineering support, product marketing, organic fertiliser, oil palm seedlings, cooperative services, as well as training and capacity building initiatives.
